In a triangular contest for the President post of 2010-2011 elections to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce the highly respected Basanthkumar Patil won by a huge margin on Saturday evening. Basanthkumar Patil representing the producer sector garnered 759 votes as against his nearest rival B Vijayakumar who secured 286 votes. Another contestant to the President post Janakiram got 167 votes. The total votes polled were 1232.

The elections to the 54th Annual KFCC got the political attachment with the entry of BJP candidate B Vijayakumar but that did not workout as the lobby of Basanthkumat Patil was very strong.

FILM INDUSTRY WIN NOT POLITICAL – BASANTHKUMAR PATIL

The newly elected President of Apex Body of Kannada Cinema referring particularly to the statement that was making rounds ‘You want person from film industry or from Political field’ irked him. So the film industry has won as the gate pass for political contestant B Vijayakumar was ousted out. Another veteran Janakiram also got poor votes for the triangular contest for the KFCC President.

That is the reason why Basanthkumar Patil stated this is Industry win. I thank profusely for my friends who worked for me day and night. Especially Sa Ra Govindu who declared that he would not enter the KFCC office in case Basanthkumar Patil did not win. How can I give back the gratitude extended by Sa Ra Govindu told Basanthkumar Patil. Sa Ra Govindu was so confident of my win Patil patted him with number of garlands surrounded by him.

I really appreciate Janakiram. He congratulated me. But for the attitude of Vijayakumar I strongly object, I expected at least shake hand from him Patil felt bad.

As the President of KFCC what I would say losing means it is not disrespect or winning is final. I would take everyone take to confidence and work for the expectations said Patil.

On Sunday morning Basanthkumar Patil takes over from the outgoing President of KFCC Dr Jayamala.
